Text:  Philippians 4:1–9 
Introduction: Have you ever wondered how Paul was such a powerful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. How did he live such a powerful Christ-Like life? In the first nine verse of Philippians Chapter 4 we see 8 Spiritual Precepts to His Powerful Life! Let’s look at each precept and try to apply them to our life.
I. LOVE YOUR CHURCH FAMILY
In Paul Introduction he demonstrates his great love for the church at Philippi!
1.  A Passionate Love Philippians 4:1
• The church was dignified. “My brethren” (Philippians 4:1). 
• The church was dear. “Dearly beloved my dearly beloved” (Philippians 4:1).
• The church was desired. “Longed for” (Philippians 4:1). 
• The church was a delight. My joy” (Philippians 4:1). 
• The church was a diadem. “My crown” (Philippians 4:1). 
2.  A Faithful Love Philippians 4:1
• The manner of the standing. “Stand fast in the Lord” (Philippians 4:1). 
• The Master in the standing. “Stand fast in the Lord” (Philippians 4:1). 
3. A Love That Loves Through Any Problems Philippians 4:2
• The people in the problem. “I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord” (Philippians 4:2). 
• The particulars of the problem. “Be of the same mind” (Philippians 4:2).   
• The peace for the problem. “Be of the same mind” (Philippians 4:2).  
4. A Partnership Love Philippians 4:3
• The cooperation of the partners. “Yokefellow labored with fellowlaborers” (Philippians 4:3). 
• The conduct of the partners. “Labored” (Philippians 4:3). 
• The composition of the partners. “Women with Clement other my fellowlaborers” (Philippians 4:3). 
• The character of the partners. “Whose names are in the book of life” 
(Philippians 4:3). 
II. FIND YOUR JOY IN THE LORD
Philippians 4:4, John 15:11, Malachi 3:6, Hebrews 13:8, John 15:11, Colossians 2:10, Psalm 16:11, Nehemiah 8:10 
III. PRACTICE THE PRESENCE OF GOD 
Philippians 4:5, Hebrews 13:5, John 14:16–17 
IV. REFUSE TO WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING
Philippians 4:6, Psalm 37:25 
A. Worry Is Worthless Luke 12:25–26 
B. Worry Is Wasteful Matthew 6:34 
C. Worry Is Wicked   Matthew 6:31–33 
V. BRING EVERY PROBLEM TO GOD IN PRAYER      
Philippians 4:6, Jeremiah 32:27 
VI. DEVELOP A THANKFUL SPIRIT Philippians 4:6  
When you learn to thank God in all things, that is the highest expression of faith. 
Romans 8:28, I Thessalonians 5:18 
VII. PRACTICE POSITIVE THINKING 
Philippians 4:8, Isaiah 26:3, Proverbs 23:7, Philippians 2:5  
The Apostle Paul also gives us a checklist or sort of a test to see if we are Practicing Positive Thinking; Philippians 4:8
1. The Reliance Test Philippians 4:8  
“Finally, brethren, Whatsoever things are true,”
2. The Respect Test   Philippians 4:8
“Whatsoever things are honest,”
3. The Rightness Test Philippians 4:8 
“Whatsoever things are just,”
4.?The Reverence Test Philippians 4:8
“Whatsoever things are pure,” I Corinthians 10:31 
5.?The Relationship Test   Philippians 4:8 “Whatsoever things are lovely,” 
6.?The Refinement Test Philippians 4:8 “Whatsoever things are of good report;”
An empty thought life is the Devil’s playground. Philippians 4:8
 “Think on these things.”  
VIII.?GET BUSY AND STAY BUSY Philippians 4:9, James 1:22, Philippians 4:8, Proverbs 4:23, Ephesians 1:6 
Impression without expression leads to depression. 
John 13:17, Philippians 4:9, Philippians 4:7
Conclusion: These are Paul’s 8 Spiritual Precepts to A Powerful Life! 
Start off with a personal Experience of Christ!!!
You cannot be a Real Christian without a Personal Experience of Christ because a Personal Experience of Christ is Christianity.
