FAITH TO OVERCOME

Text: Hebrews 11:24-29

I. THE RICHES MOSES REFUSED

Hebrews 11:24-26

A.) Review Moses’ Life.

B.) Recognize What Moses Refused

Hebrews 11:24, I John 2:15, I John 5:4-5

C.) Realize What Moses Knew

Hebrews 11:25-26, Psalm 16:11

II. THE REPROACH THAT MOSES RECEIVED

Hebrews 11:25-26 “suffer affliction” and “the reproach of Christ”

A.) The Righteous Will Suffer Affliction and Reproach

II Timothy 3:12, Philippians 1:29, Hebrews 13:12-13

III. THE REWARD THAT MOSES RESPECTED

Hebrews 11:24-27, I Corinthians 2:9-10

Paul said in Philippians 1:21

“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

Notice Moses’ four steps of Faith written in our text:

Step One: Seeing

Seeing Not What, But WHO? Hebrews 11:26 “Christ”

Hebrews 11:27 “seeing Him who is invisible.” Just like Abraham Moses saw Jesus through the eyes of faith. John 8:56, Galatians 3:8

Step Two: Esteeming Hebrews 11:26

Step Three: Choosing Hebrews 11:25,24, Romans 10:17, III John 1:4,

John 17:17

Step Four: Refusing Hebrews 11:24

IV. THE REDEMPTION THAT MOSES RECKONED

Hebrews 11:28-29

Moses’ Faith Choices Lead to Moses’s Salvation! I did not say life choices,

I said FAITH Choices!

A.) Spiritual Salvation Hebrews 11:28

B.) Physical Salvation Hebrews 11:29

Conclusion: Matthew 6:24

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.

Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

THE LAD THAT HAD! The Loaves and Fishes

Matthew 14:13-21; Mark 6:30-44; Luke 9:11; John 6:1-14

This is the only miracle recorded in all four gospels. It is a delightful study centering in the lad, the loaves, and the Lord. Look at the story through the eyes of the little boy. Note also the basic flaw in both Philip's and Andrew's assessment when Jesus challenged His disciples to feed the multitude.

1. Philip looked at the demand John 6:7

2. Andrew looked at the supply John 6:9

Then both turned and looked at Jesus

I. THE MESSAGE THE LITTLE BOY HEARD

Luke 9:11 The Kingdom of God is not a realm but a reign; not a domain but a dominion.

II. THE MAN THE LITTLE BOY FOLLOWED

John 6:8-9, Example: Matthew 25:35-40

III. THE MIRACLE THE LITTLE BOY SAW

John 6:10-12

IV. THE MASTER THE LITTLE BOY TRUSTED

John 6:11, John 6:13-14

It is amazing to consider that the Lord Jesus would have gone home hungry that day had not this unnamed little boy been willing to give Him his lunch. Think of it. The Lord of glory, the Creator of heaven and earth, did not have so much as His own crust of bread! And a generous little boy was willing to press into His hands not just one of his little barley loaves, not just a piece of fish, but his whole lunch! This little boy stands in the annals of eternity alongside that widow who cast into the treasury "all her living." Great will be their reward in heaven.
