FAITH WITH LEGS ON IT

Text: Hebrews 11:5-6

Introduction: Enoch = Dedicated, Genesis 5:21-24 (background verses).

I. THE MEANING OF THE WALK WITH GOD

Genesis 5:22

A.) Why Did God Save You? Micah 6:8

B.) Some Could Know About the Walk with God and Still Never Walk with God or Even Know Him.

C.) God Has a Walk with Him Just for You.

Psalm 37:23-24, I John 1:7, Ephesians 2:10

D.) We Sing About the Walk.

1. Trust and Obey

2. In the Garden

3. Leaning on the Everlasting Arms Second verse

II. THE MOTIVATION OF THE WALK WITH GOD

There were three things which motivated Enoch to walk with God:

A.) FAMILY Genesis 5:21-22

B.) FEAR Genesis 5:21

Methuselah = When he is gone, it will be sent. Amos 3:7 Methuselah lived 969 years. II Peter 3:9 The flood came the day Methuselah died.

Add it up: Genesis 5:25 “187 years” and Genesis 5:28 “182 years” (187 + 182 = 369) Add Genesis 7:11 “600 years” this = 969. Methuselah died on his birthday on the second month and 17th day of the month which also is the same day the flood came upon the earth. Enoch knew a flood was coming! Fear is a good motivator.

Psalm 25:14, Psalm 111:10

C.) FAITH Hebrews 11:5-6

III. THE MAINTENANCE OF THE WALK WITH GOD Genesis 5:21-24

A.) Enoch Had A 300 Year Walk with God.

the walk will not work in bad times, it will not work at all.

I John 4:4

B.) Enoch Was a Man of Spiritual Choice. Jude 14-16

IV. THE MYSTERY OF THE WALK WITH GOD Hebrews 11:5, Genesis 5:24

Enoch was not found. They looked and looked for him, and they found him not. Example: One little girl explained it this way, “Enoch walked so long with God that God said, Enoch you’re closer to my home than yours. Why don’t you come home with me?” One day, they are going to look for us, and we won’t be found. It will be a mystery

(I Corinthians 15:51-57, I Thessalonians 4:13-18).

Conclusion: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved" (Acts 16:31).
