THE GLORIFICATION AND THE EXALTATION OF CHRIST CONTINUES!
Text: Hebrews 3:1–19
Introduction: The Glorification and The Exaltation of Christ Continues. Christ is shown to be superior to Moses, the revered emancipator of Israel and caution is given about failure to believe in Christ. Hebrews 3 can be divided into three main parts as follows:
I. THE BELIEVERS PRAISE OF CHRIST!
Hebrews 3:1–6 Christ is to be praised. He has been praised as superior to the prophets and to the angels. Now he is praised by emphasizing His superiority to Moses.
A.) The Crowd for the Praise of Christ. Hebrews 3:1
1. The Holy Brethren. “Holy brethren.” Hebrews 3:1
2. The Heavenly Calling.  “Partakers of the heavenly calling.” Hebrews 3:1
B.) The Considering for Praise of Christ Hebrews 3:1
1. The Practice “Consider.”
2. The Purpose
3.  The Person First, the revealing by Christ. “Apostle.”
Christ was sent by God the Father to reveal God to man: Hebrews 1:2–3
Second, the representing by Christ. “High Priest of our profession.”
C.) The Comparisons for Praise of Christ Hebrews 3:2
1. Faithfulness with The Right Performance “Faithful.”
2. Faithfulness to The Right Person “Faithful to him.”
3. Faithfulness in The Right Place “House.”
D.) The Contrasts for Praise Hebrews 3:3-6
1. The Believers Preparing of The House.
“He who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house. Every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God” (Hebrews 3:3, 4)
2.  The Believers Position in The House.
“Moses verily was faithful as a servant. But Christ as a son over his own house” (Hebrews 3:5, 6)
A Son is much superior to a servant. Thus, Christ is much superior to Moses.

II. THE BELIEVERS PROVOKING OF CHRIST!
Hebrews 3:6-13
A.) The Cautioned About the Provoking Hebrews 3:6
B.) The Case of Provoking Hebrews 3:7-9
1. The Witness “Holy Ghost” (Hebrews 3:7)
2. The Wilderness “In the wilderness” (Hebrews 3:8)
3. The Warning “Harden not your hearts” (Hebrews 3:8)
4. The Wickedness (Hebrews 3:9)
When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
First, The Dissenting in The Wickedness. “Tempted me.”
Second, The Discrediting in The Wickedness. “Proved me.”
Third, The Duration of Their Wickedness. “Forty years.”
C. The Consequences of Provoking Hebrews 3:10-11
The consequences were fourfold.
1.  The Passion “Wherefore I was grieved with that generation” (Hebrews 3:10).
2.  The Path “They do always err in their heart” (Hebrews 3:10).
3.  The Poverty “They have not known my ways” (Hebrews 3:10).
4.  The Prohibiting “I sware in my wrath, they shall not enter into my rest”
(Hebrews 3:11). First, the dogmatism of the prohibiting. “I sware in my wrath.”
Second, the discomfort in the prohibiting. “Shall not enter into my rest.”
D.) The Caution About Provoking Hebrews 3:12
1. The Practice in The Caution. “Take heed.”
2. The Peril in The Caution. “Lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief.” Hebrews 3:12
3. The Product in The Caution.  “Departing from the living God.” Hebrews 3:12
E.) The Counselling Against Provoking Hebrews 3:13
First, the promptness of the counselling. “To day.”
Second, the product from the counselling. “Lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.”

III. THE BELIEVERS PARTAKING OF CHRIST!
Hebrews 3:14-19
A.) The Confirmation of Partaking Hebrews 3:14
B.) The Caution for Partaking   Hebrews 3:15
C.) The Carcasses for not Partaking Hebrews 3:16-17
D.) The Condition for Partaking Hebrews 3:18-19
The condition for partaking of Christ is faith. The prohibiting of the unbelieving Israelites from the promised land is a picture of the prohibiting of unbelievers from heaven. Faith is the key to salvation (heaven). Unbelief keeps man from the greatest of blessings.
